Elm is for those who feel overwhelmed by their workload. Typically confident, capable, and responsible, they may experience a sudden loss of self-assurance and become despondent. Elm types are often leaders or caretakers, such as doctors, teachers, therapists, or executives, who are deeply committed to the well-being of others.
This remedy is particularly indicated when these reliable individuals feel unable to manage their responsibilities or keep up with demands, often due to overloading themselves without adequate self-care. This can lead to feelings of exhaustion, depression, and a fleeting loss of self-worth. Even a brief doubt in their abilities can leave them feeling drained and ineffective.
The positive potential of Elm is a return to their natural sense of confidence, efficiency, and perspective. They regain the ability to prioritize tasks, recognize their limits, and ensure they take time to care for their own needs while maintaining their capable, balanced approach to life.
Dr Bach’s description
Those who are doing good work, are following the calling of their life and who hope to do something of importance, and this often for the benefit of humanity. At times there may be periods of depression when they feel that the task they have undertaken is too difficult, and not within the power of a human being.

Crab Apple is known as the “cleansing remedy” for both mind and body. It is particularly helpful for individuals who feel unclean or struggle with a poor self-image. Those who resonate with Crab Apple may exhibit obsessive tendencies, such as being overly concerned with cleanliness, order, or minor details.
This remedy is also beneficial for individuals who feel ashamed or embarrassed by physical issues like skin conditions or discharges, often becoming discouraged when treatments fail (Gentian may also be helpful in such cases). For skin-related concerns, Crab Apple can be used externally as a lotion (diluted with a few drops in water), applied as a compress, or added to a bath (10 drops) for soothing relief.
The positive potential of Crab Apple is acceptance of oneself and one’s imperfections. Positive Crab Apple people have a positive self-image and are relaxed about the way they look and their environment.
Dr. Bach’s description
This is the remedy of cleansing, for those who feel as if they had something not quite clean about themselves. Often it is something of apparently little importance: in others, there may be a more serious disease which is almost disregarded compared to the one thing on which they concentrate. In both types, they are anxious to be free from the one particular thing which is greatest in their minds and which seems so essential to them that it should be cured. They become despondent if treatment fails. Being a cleanser, this remedy purifies wounds if the patient has reason to believe that some poison has entered which must be drawn out.
